Mary and Elizabeth created Briarbook Lane as a place to share their creativity and inspire both each other and like minded souls. It has also been a haven throughout all that has happened these past few years.
In early 2020, we decided we wanted to collaborate more. We are both writers and already supported and critiqued each others' work. So we decided to create a website and blog that we could work on together. We knew we wanted to focus on books, writing, and fairytales. And start our own book club to read and discuss fairytale retellings. We brainstormed names, such as fairytale sisters, drunk-on-writing, briar sisters, storybook sisters. But sites were either already taken or too similar to existing sites. Elizabeth was the one that suggested more of a street location vibe. Our online home. And in April 2020 we officially launched Briarbook Lane.
As teens, we had discussed living next door to each other someday, with houses that had libraries, and a shared garden between our two homes. Mary's initial website sketch below was to capture that idea. Of course, neither of us have the art skill or web design skill to pull off that exact vision, but we are very happy with how our site has evolved.
Last December we commissioned an official logo for the site, a fairytale cottage. To celebrate our two year site anniversary, we are providing you a line-art version of that logo as a coloring page. Color our logo and enter our contest for a chance to win one of two physical prize packs, or a digital prize pack!
Check out the slideshow for images of our prizes!
Due to technical problems, we have extended the contest. New deadline is Tuesday, May 10 at 11:59 pm MT. We also have a new contest link. Let us know if you have any problems!
If you cannot access the contest, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your colored page, and the following info: Your name, what caption or name you want on the picture, and confirm that you agree to the rules.
This is where you will find announcements that deal with Briarbook Lane as a whole. Publishing news, giveaways, etc. Mary and Elizabeth still have their respective blogs, and the Enchanted Garden blog is dedicated to our fairytale book club.
You may have noticed that our navigation bar has changed. A few items have been moved around or renamed. We will be creating a sitemap that details each part of the website. If you can't find something in the meantime, don't hesitate to ask! Send us a blog comment, message us through our contact form, or find our individual contact info in our bios.
You can also join us on Discord, follow Briarbook Lane on Facebook, and join our Enchanted Garden Facebook group. We hope to hear from you!
