Last year I did an A to Z reading challenge, where I read a title for each letter of the alphabet. You can read my year in review here.
This year, I plan to focus more on finishing series and reading what’s on my shelves.

We have dedicated shelves to books we haven’t read, particularly standalones by new authors or other titles we’re not sure we want to keep. I have 10 anthologies, 18 standalone books, 2 nonfiction titles, and more titles that are parts of series. I also have two that I want to re-read this year. One is a title that I don’t know if I would still enjoy (tastes change), and the other is a gorgeous new edition of a loved book.

The Plan

I have typed up the titles for the standalones and rereads, cut them into strips, and am putting the papers in a cute little book box. Then I can draw one randomly to read. The series take more commitment, so I will choose those when ready. I’m also focusing on series that I have already started reading, and all the books are out. That narrowed down the list some more. So that will give me some randomness excitement mixed with some of what I’m in the mood for (anthologies and series).

I am not including my ebook titles. That would be a whole other project. But also good to go through and make a list of what I actually want to read. Too bad Kindle doesn’t have a Surprise Me option like Netflix does.

I will of course still be reading 11 titles for library book club, and 4 titles for our Enchanted Garden book club. And other exceptions such as Path of Thorns by A.G. Slatter which doubles as a read for work and a must-read new title, and some other titles I have on hold or can’t resist. But I hope to read a good chunk off my own shelves. I also made a list in Keep Notes so I can see them get checked off as I go.

What are your reading plans this year? Are you doing any challenges? Setting a reading resolution? I’d love to hear from you.
