A year ago, Mary and I began Briarbook Lane, and I began to post here on my little corner of the site. It’s been a real roller-coaster of a year; a lot happening in the world, and a lot happening with me, personally. What did this first year of blogging here look like for me? Let’s take a look, and consider what to expect moving into the second year of this blog.
Looking over the timeline of my posts here on Elizabeth’s Musings, a couple things jump out at me:

  • My posts have become less regular
    • I clearly came into the launch of Briarbook Lane with a lot of energy and goals which petered out over the course of the year. I’d like to get back into a more consistent and regular schedule for me posts here.
  • There hasn’t been a Chronicling update since August
    • I’m past-due to continue my memoir project here. I’d like to get at least four additional Chronicling vignettes up over this next year.
  • This is starting to look like a cocktail recipe blog with only the occasional reading/writing content
    • I love my Dressing Up Drinks series, and will certainly be continuing it here. I do want to make sure I balance it better with more book reviews, as well as other reading- and writing-related posts. I’m also considering starting to do a Dressing Up Drinks custom cocktail post to accompany each Enchanted Garden Book Club pick.

How do my posts break down?

  • CHRONICLING
    • an introduction and eight installments
  • BOOK REVIEWS
    • six books reviewed, four of which were Enchanted Garden Book Club selections
  • DRESSING UP DRINKS
    • an introduction and nine recipes (eight custom cocktails and one bar basic)
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • a welcome post to start the blog, a post for last year’s National Poetry Month, and a TTRPG/fairy-tale post following up on the one-shot in which I played for International Podcast Month 2020

Looking Forward

I’ve indicated some of my goals for the next year. Now, I’d like to know what you think! What would you like to see more of from me here on Briarbook Lane?
